Our Doctors

The doctors and expert staff at Eye Surgeons of Nebraska offer a complete range of Ophthalmologic services.

Dr. Burwick was born in Ohio and spent most of her childhood in Buffalo, NY. She attended college at the University of Rochester, where she graduated magna cum laude with a degree in Neuroscience. She then went on to get her medical degree from The Ohio State University College of Medicine, where she graduated cum laude. During medical school she spent a month volunteering at the Pediatric Ward at Victoria Medical Center in Cape Town, South Africa. After completing medical school, she remained in Columbus for her internship and residency training. During her last year of residency she travelled to Gondar, Ethiopia to work with the local cataract surgeons and provide eye care to those in need. She relocated to North Platte in the summer of 2013 to join Dr. James Shreck as he prepared to retire in 2014.

 

She is a member of the American Academy of Ophthalmology, the American Society of Cataract and Refractive Surgeons, the Nebraska Medical Association and the Nebraska Academy of Eye Physicians and Surgeons.

 

In her spare time she enjoys traveling, reading, sewing, cooking, and many outdoor activities including hiking, running, skiing and biking.

Dr. Eitzen was born and raised in Alabama and grew up in Birmingham. He attended Auburn University where he graduated magna cum laude with a bachelor’s degree in Chemistry. He went on to get his medical degree from The University of Alabama School of Medicine where he graduated cum laude.

 

He was awarded an Air Force Health Professions Scholarship for his medical training. He attended a training courses at the School of Aerospace Medicine in San Antonio, TX as a medical student. After completing medical school, he remained in Birmingham for his internship and initial residency training. He subsequently entered active duty in the Air Force and participated in Operation Desert Storm where his unit built the largest medical evacuation hospital in the Gulf Theater. He later completed additional training at LSU/ The Ochsner Clinic Foundation and a Cornea Fellowship at Tulane University Medical Center in New Orleans, LA. He relocated to North Platte in 2017 to join Eye Surgeons of Nebraska.

 

Dr. Eitzen is a member of the American Academy of Ophthalmology, the Nebraska Medical Association and the Nebraska Academy of Eye Physicians and Surgeons.

 

In his off time, he enjoys all types of sports activities, good music, good conversation and good books.
