There are many different treatments available for diabetic eye disease, but they work better when the disease is caught early. The American Academy of Ophthalmology recommends that all diabetics have a yearly medical eye exam with an ophthalmologist to screen for these changes.
This includes dry eye syndrome and blepharitis, which are two of the most common things that we treat. This can cause blurry vision, itchy eyes, red eyes, burning, stinging, and feel like there is something in the eye. There are many treatments that are available for these conditions.
We offer screening exams for lazy eyes and crossing eyes. We also perform surgery on blocked tear ducts in infants. We do not prescribe glasses or do eye muscle surgery, but work closely with several pediatric ophthalmologists who do.
