Cataracts

Cataracts are a clouding of the natural lens of the eye that occurs naturally as the lens ages. When cataracts start to blur your vision, cataract surgery can restore your sight. This 10-15 minute procedure is one of the things we specialize in.

Glaucoma

Glaucoma is the second leading cause of blindness in the world. This disease is often inherited, and doesn’t cause blurred vision until you’ve lost quite a bit of vision. The American Academy of Ophthalmology recommends that everyone over 40 years old have a medical eye exam to assess for glaucoma and other eye diseases. We offer many different medical and surgical treatments for glaucoma.

Macular Degeneration

Macular degeneration affects over 2 million people in the United States. It is a degeneration of the central retina, which can lead to legal blindness in its late stages. Smoking causes macular degeneration to develop earlier and be more aggressive

Diabetes

Diabetic retinopathy is the most common cause of blindness in people with diabetes. There are many different treatments available for diabetic eye disease, but they work better when the disease is caught early. The American Academy of Ophthalmology recommends that all diabetics have a yearly medical eye exam with an ophthalmologist to screen for these changes.

Ocular Surface Disease

This includes dry eye syndrome and blepharitis, which are two of the most common things that we treat. This can cause blurry vision, itchy eyes, red eyes, burning, stinging, and feel like there is something in the eye. There are many treatments that are available for these conditions.

Pediatric Eye Disease

We offer screening exams for lazy eyes and crossing eyes. We also perform surgery on blocked tear ducts in infants. We do not prescribe glasses or do eye muscle surgery, but work closely with several pediatric ophthalmologists who do.

Styes

A stye or chalazion is an inflamed or infected oil gland along the eyelid. We offer medical and surgical management of styes in our office, without any need to go to the operating room.

Eyelid Procedures

As we age many people’s eyelids will become droopy. We offer surgical treatment of some of these eyelid issues when medically necessary.

Corneal disease

There are many different disease that can affect the cornea, some related to contact lens usage, others related to family inheritance, and still others related to viral infections. We offer medical treatment of many different corneal diseases and work closely with several corneal surgeons to manage the surgical treatment of these diseases when needed.
